Project 384 – Toymaker's Workshop Restoration
This project involves the restoration and extension of a quaint toymaker's workshop sitting at the bottom of a garden in Eccles, Manchester. Whilst the building is not listed or within a conservation area, historically it sat within Herbert Wiles’ estate, the owner of a well known toyshop (H. Wiles Ltd) situated in Manchester, and is the only remaining building from the original estate.
The conversion and extension of the building aims to provide a new life for the building and safeguard its use for the future. It is to serve as ancillary accommodation to the main house with a dining space, bar, bathroom and sleeping deck. The proposed works include upgrading the existing thermal performance to meet current standards and an extension with a sympathetic foundation design to avoid impacting existing trees.
