New Build Accessible Home

This project involved the design of a new single-storey home on land adjacent to an existing property on the outskirts of Chapel-en-le-Frith. The aim was to create a contemporary yet contextually sensitive dwelling that supports independent living while maintaining close connection to family in the existing house.

Positioned to maximise south-facing views across agricultural land, the home is arranged as a series of simple gabled forms that echo traditional rural buildings. Render, reconstituted stone, natural blue slate and weathered timber create a material palette that blends harmoniously with the semi-rural setting.

Designed entirely on one level, the two-bedroom home prioritises accessibility and long-term adaptability, with a large multi-purpose living area opening towards the countryside. The result is a carefully scaled, modern country home that enhances underused land and sits comfortably within its landscape context.
