Longhouse Replacement Dwelling

A contemporary interpretation of a traditional longhouse, inspired by modern Scottish reinventions on the west coast. Traditional in form and massing, with gritstone to book ends to the gables and larch / glass infill. The building uses a simple palette of natural materials. Internally the open plan living spaces make the most of the southern views to the Peak District hills. Heated via an air source heat pump through the power floated concrete floor, the energy usage is extremely low, especially with the solar gain and thermal mass in the structure.
