This project reimagines a distinguished country house through a carefully considered masterplan for the wider estate, alongside a series of sensitive extensions and alterations that strengthen its relationship with the surrounding landscape. The brief sought to replace obsolete outbuildings, reconfigure the pool area, and introduce discreet ancillary accommodation within the generous grounds.
The design extends the central rear gable of the main house to provide additional accommodation while preserving the balance of the original rear elevation. On one side, a contemporary glazed garden room creates a seamless connection between the house and the south-facing formal gardens, complemented by full height glazed doors on the other side, linking the day room with an outdoor kitchen, dining terrace, and redesigned pool setting.
The relocated pool improves accessibility, safety, and its visual connection to the house, while a new greenhouse enhances the kitchen garden. Together, these interventions improve circulation and functionality, whilst balancing the character of the original house with contemporary family living.
