Our client, Yane Foods, approached us after leasing a vacant unit in Chorlton with the ambition of transforming it into a vibrant and successful Japanese restaurant. The 148 sqm site previously operated as a café on the ground floor, with basement storage and residential apartments located on the first and second floors.
Our design proposal focused on repurposing the ground floor into a contemporary restaurant, incorporating external seating at the front and the installation of a new kitchen extraction system to the rear.
A key element of the design was the relocation of the kitchen to the centre of the restaurant, creating an open kitchen concept. This allows customers to watch the chefs at work, celebrating the craftsmanship and theatre of Japanese cooking.
The WC facilities were relocated to the rear of the premises, where a new DDA-compliant accessible WC was introduced to ensure inclusivity and improved functionality.
The restaurant layout was designed to provide a variety of dining experiences, including booth seating to the rear, bar seating overlooking the open kitchen, traditional dining tables and window seating at the front of the premises.
