Darwent Architecture was commissioned by the Peak Forest Reading Room Committee to develop packages for the internal renovation of the Grade II Listed building, which had been in use as a nursery.
The building had been experiencing significant damp issues, resulting in mould growth, deterioration of plaster finishes, and poor internal air quality. Due to the building’s listed status, the proposed renovation works required a Listed Building Consent application. This involved the preparation of detailed construction drawings, schedules, and specifications outlining the proposed works.
In addition to preparing the Listed Building Consent application, the practice’s services included tendering the works and producing a tender report.
Although Listed Building Consent has now been granted, the renovation works have unfortunately been delayed due to funding constraints.
