Grade II Listed Masterplanning

Darwent Architecture has produced a masterplan for the redevelopment of this Grade II listed house and farm in the Peak District National Park, creating a high-quality events, hospitality and leisure destination while restoring the historic buildings and enhancing their landscape setting.

At the heart of the scheme is the sensitive restoration of the main house and farmhouse, alongside new accommodation within a carefully considered series of courtyard buildings. A hotel and aparthotel, restaurant, spa, gym, pool and social facilities are integrated across the site, supported by a range of flexible event and function spaces, including a partially subterranean 200-person suite and a new orangery.

Non-traditional agricultural buildings that were added in the 1980’s are replaced with new structures that draw on the character, scale and materiality of the historic farmyard, creating a cohesive development. Enhanced pedestrian routes, courtyards, arches and landscaped spaces improve connections throughout the site, while a new entrance enables the historic approach to be restored as a pedestrian and cycle route.
